Preparing Well for the Holidays

The holiday season is meant to be a time in which family and friends can share meaningful moments with one another and celebrate joyfully.  However, when it is our responsibility to organize and manage these important moments, excitement can quickly turn into stress. At Home Unlimited, we want to provide the tools you need to tackle the tasks of the holiday season ahead of time so that you can truly enjoy every moment as it comes. Here are some ways you can manage the holidays well this year!

  • Create a Budget: Whether you’re buying presents, preparing meals, or traveling for the holidays, this time of year can get expensive quickly! Manage stress by setting clear parameters for yourself in advance to help you avoid extra spending during the holiday season.

  • Plan Your Meals: Making meals for holidays can seem intimidating, even if you’re comfortable in the kitchen or used to hosting. Ease your mind by doing recipe research, prepping and storing what you can, and delegating tasks to family and friends.

  • Schedule Downtime: Sometimes we struggle to make time to take a breath amid the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Don’t forget to schedule some downtime for yourself.  Going on a walk, sipping your favorite warm beverage, or spending a quiet moment in prayer can really take the pressure off on a stressful day.

  • Practice Gratitude: Take time to reflect on your blessings. With so much to do, we can forget all the beautiful gifts and people God has given us. When you’re having a difficult moment, take a minute to breathe and think about or write down what you are grateful for.

By following these tips and planning ahead, your holiday season can be filled with joy, love, and sweet memories rather than stress and anxiety. We hope you and your families enjoy this beautiful time together!

Painted Pumpkins

Whether you want to host a girls night for your closest friends or are looking for a craft to do with your kiddos, pumpkin painting is the perfect fall activity!

Supplies:
Pumpkins

  • Tip: Uncarved mini pumpkins and white pumpkins last a long time (6-12 months), and with the right design can be kept out from Halloween to Christmas!

Acrylic paint

Paint brushes

Instructions:
Go to the store or a pumpkin patch with your loved ones to pick out the perfect fall pumpkin. Then, head home, get out your paints, and get creative! You can either paint from a picture or freestyle, and your design can be as complex or simple as you want. Let the paint dry and put your pumpkins on display!

Note: This is a great activity for little ones who are too small to carve pumpkins but want to be included in fall festivities.
